Maria Yoo has extensive experience in a broad range of legal issues related to state and local taxation, including property tax, transfer tax, business tax, sales and use tax, corporate officer’s liability and tax exemptions. She is involved in all aspects of tax litigation, including discovery, negotiation, settlement and motion practice. She has appeared before and made successful arguments to the judges of the New Jersey Tax Court, New York State Supreme Court and before county boards of taxation in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, District of Columbia and Arizona. In addition, she has been involved in tax appeals in numerous states, including Arizona, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah and Virginia.
Her background includes representing commercial, industrial and residential clients in their tax appeals.
Before joining the firm, Maria clerked for Presiding Judge Jack L. Van Coevering of the Michigan Tax Tribunal, retired, and for Presiding Judge Joseph C. Small of the New Jersey Tax Court, retired.
Maria is bilingual and is fluent in English and Korean.
