Scott Rose has more than 25 years of complex commercial litigation and investigations experience. He has represented accounting firms, hedge funds, public and private companies, boards of directors and audit committees, and individuals (including directors and senior officers) in multimillion dollar litigations, regulatory investigations, and internal investigations. Industries include financial services, insurance and reinsurance, media and entertainment, and real estate. He has appeared in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts throughout the United States, as well as in mediations and arbitrations.
Scott’s practice includes pursuing and defending various business and investment disputes, including those alleging fraud, breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation, and breach of fiduciary duty, among other things. He also has represented clients in matters involving securities litigation, accounting irregularities, accountant’s liability, employment litigation and counseling, and theft of trade secrets. Scott uses his skills as a seasoned commercial litigator to assist Skoloff & Wolfe, P.C.’s matrimonial practice, particularly on high net worth divorces involving complex financial matters.
Scott previously was a litigation partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York City, where he practiced for 17 years. He also has experience as a senior litigator at an international reinsurance and insurance company and as a senior compliance officer at a major international financial institution. He began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. Frederic Block, United States District Court, Eastern District of New York.
Scott graduated Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif from Cornell Law School, where he was the Senior Note Editor of the Cornell Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from Bates College.
Scott has spoken at conferences, CLEs, and other events over the years on topics related to his areas of practice. He also has been published in various legal journals.

- Represented hedge fund in multibillion dollar civil RICO litigation in New Jersey state court that resulted in dismissal of all claims.
- Represented accounting firm in five-week accounting malpractice jury trial in New Jersey state court, in which the New Jersey Supreme Court unanimously directed dismissal of all claims.
- Represented former CFO of company that produces and markets metal-based specialty products in securities class action and SEC investigation arising out of alleged accounting improprieties.
- Represented Big 4 accounting firms, underwriters, and issuers in various securities class actions arising out of alleged accounting improprieties.
- Represented REIT that specializes in retail real estate in litigation related to its hostile takeover bid for another REIT.
- Represented major financial institution in fraud and breach of contract action in New York state court that resulted in dismissal of all claims.
- Represented media company in Freedom of Information Act action seeking disclosure of information related to the Federal Reserve’s bank bailouts.
- Represented insurance broker in various breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and broker negligence actions in state and federal court.
- Represented media company in various age, disability, and medical leave discrimination actions in federal court.
- Represented employers in enforcement of non-competition and confidentiality agreements.
- Provided counseling to hedge funds concerning compliance and insider trading issues, including conducting internal investigations and responding to subpoenas and informal inquiries.
